April 5th, 2014: Girl Scout Day Event by WVU Society of Women Engineers

Saturday at Girl Scout Day was a fun-filled day for several girls from our troop.

There were four stations at which girls could learn about:

The Human Body Below girls are lining up go get an idea of how long the small intestine is

DNA This may have been the tastiest station making a model of DNA with Twizzlers, toothpicks, and marshmallows.

Taste and Smell Girls were asked to identify salty, sweet, bitter and sour foods.  The apple and pretzels were enjoyed but the cocoa powder is the reason for the grimaces!

and Heart Rate and Physical Activity.  Here the girls leaned how to take their heart rate and then played a game similar to musical chairs.  If when the music stopped the girls were not in a circle, they had to do jumping jacks.  Everyone did a lot of jumping jacks and noticed their heart rates jump up with activity.

The day wasn't complete without a PRT ride at the end!
