A Second March Booth Sale. Way to go!

March Field Trip

For the March field trip, we visited the West Virginia Geological and Economic Survey Center along Cheat Lake.

We learned about various rocks and saw beautiful geodes, a 30 foot long skin from an anaconda that had eaten an entire alligator, and several fossils!

February 2014 Meeting: Friendly and Helpful Daisies

We started out the February meeting with a game of follow the leader.  Most of the girls wanted a turn and were able to burn off a little energy before sitting down for a snack.

The goal of this meeting was to earn a Yellow Petal for being Friendly and Helpful Daisies.  Daisies and their families donated food items for the weekend backpack food program.  This program benefits over 100 kids at the school.  Below is a sampling of the items we collected.  Thanks, families, for being so friendly and helpful and generous!

Most of the girls took part in collecting Girl Scout cookie orders and the three girls who took orders for the most boxes got a stuffed heart today.  Before passing them out, we had a little fun and played Hot Potato with them.

March Cookie Booth Sale

Maddie and Jody made a beautiful sign for our cookie table and Dawn and Kayla brought crayons so the girls could decorate the below sign that got MUCH use at the sale :)

Girls took turns delivering cookies to customers, restocking cookie boxes on the table, showing off the cookie sign, singing "Girl Scout Cookies", telling customers the cost of their cookies and accepting money from customers.  It was exhausting fun but every girl brough enthusiasm and effort.  Thanks so much for your hard work!

March 2014 Meeting

We again opened the meeting with a game of follow the leader.  During this month's meeting, the girls earned the "Respect Myself and Others" petal and the "Be a Sister to Every Girl Scout" petal (purple and violet). Only one more petal to go, girls!

We played a game of hot potato with a giant stuffed snake, inspired by St. Patrick's Day which will soon arrive, and then sat in a circle singing Girl Scout songs.

Thanks to all the families and the girls who participated in the Girl Scout cookie sale!  We have taken a poll of the girls and will select an end of the year field trip that they are able to attend at no cost (thanks to the cookie money)!

February Field Trip to the Cheat Area Library

Not only did a lot of parents get their Girl Scout cookie orders, we had a field trip after school at the Cheat Area Library.  Ms. Colleen gave the girls a tour of the library.  Several girls checked out DVDs and books and at least one even got a library card.  Ms. Colleen even read aloud to the girls and made a matching game for the girls to play.  Thanks Ms. Colleen!

February 2014 Cookie Pickup

We had a lot of help to pick up 185 cases of Girl Scout cookies for our troop.  Thanks Roger, Karen and the girls for all your work!  My garage became a temporary cookie cupboard
